Today I will share with you a recipe for tender and delicious air fryer cheese cakes. These are Russian style cheesecakes, called “Syrniki” where a dry curd cheese (Farmer cheese) is mixed with simple ingredients like egg, a bit of flour and a small amount of sugar, being shaped into a thick pancake and pan fried in oil.

Cooking cheesecakes in an air fryer is easy and has undeniable advantages. Firstly, compared to ordinary fried ones, air fryer cheese cakes are very gentle for digestion and lower in calories.

It is also important that cooking cheese cakes in an air fryer is simple and quick.

And lastly this recipe is easily convertible into a low carb and keto friendly.

Air Fryer Cheese Pancakes

Ingredients for Air Fryer Cheese cakes:

16 oz Farmer cheese (450 g). Can sub for cream cheese. Please see the Creamy Cheesecakes recipe.
1 Egg
2 TBS All purpose Flour
2 TBS Granulated sugar (Can substitute for preferred granulated sweetener of your choice)
2 TBS Semolina (Optional)

Optional toppings:

Sour cream
Powdered sugar
Fruit

Directions:
How to make cheesecakes in air fryer
In a mixing bowl add all ingredients at once: Farmer cheese, egg, flour, sugar and semolina. (In this photo recipe, I added raisins too) Using a spoon or fork, mix all ingredients together until well combined. Using your hand divide the mixture into 8 even parts. Using your hand pick up a small amount and roll a ball  Gently press the ball into a pancake shape and make it 3/4 inch thickness Place onto greased air fryer basket

In a mixing bowl add all ingredients at once: Farmer cheese, egg, flour, sugar and semolina.
Using a spoon or fork, mix all ingredients together until well combined.
Using your hand divide the mixture into 8 even parts.
Using your hand pick up a small amount and roll a ball 
Gently press the ball into a pancake shape and make it 3/4 inch thickness
Place onto greased air fryer basket
Air fry at 350 F for 10 minutes
Open air fryer, flip each cheese cake on the other side and fry an additional 3-4 minutes or until golden brown
Transfer to a plate and serve with your favorite topping, like sour cream, fruit and powdered sugar

Substitute flour for almond flour and
Substitute sugar for granulated sweetener of your choice

  9. Transfer to a plate and serve with your favorite topping, like sour cream, fruit and powdered sugar

    1. Farmers cheese works best. However yes you can use cream cheese. When mixing ingredients together, please insure that your dough you can roll the balls and press them into pancake shape. You should feel if you need to add more flour. But don’t add too much.

      1. I’d use cottage cheese if farmer’s cheese (twarog) is not available. It used to be the alternative before twarog was introduced here in Sweden.
