You can whip them up in minutes, but beware, they will be gone in seconds at your next party gathering. Thankfully, this appetizing snack is quick and easy to make. With the help of the Air fryer, it only cooks in 6-7 minutes. I used the premade sheets of puff pastry and homemade sauteed mushrooms and onions as a filling. The equipment that I used for this recipe is the Cuisinart Air fryer oven.

Air fryer mushroom puffs

Ingredients: (Makes 8 air fryer puff pastry mushroom puffs.)

2 puff pastry sheets. Cut into 4 quarters. The puff pastry can be found in the freezer section of the supermarket. You can use any brand puff pastry. The one that I found in my supermarket is made by Mazor’s brand and it has 36 mini puff pastry squares, which are perfect for our air fryer mushroom puff pastry. Each mini square is 3,5″ x 3″5″
8oz. Mushrooms, finely chopped. Any kind. I used baby Bella
1 medium onion, finely chopped
2 Tablespoon oil
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ground pepper
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon thyme
1/2 teaspoon seasoning blend. Can sub for seasoning blend of choice.
Everything bagel seasoning (optional)

Homemade Sautéed mushrooms and onions for the mushroom puff pastry filling

Directions: (Please see visual below)

1. Heat 1 tablespoon oil in the skillet. Add onions and saute until caramelized (about 7 minutes)
2. In the same skillet, add mushrooms and saute until tender (about 10 minutes)
3. Add salt, pepper, garlic, thyme and seasoning blend and saute for an additional 2-3 minutes.
4. Let the onion mixture cool.
5. On a flat surface, lay out the puff pastry squares
6. Add a teaspoon of mushroom filling to the center of each square
7. Using your fingertips, fold the pastry over filling to form a triangle.
8. Pinch edges firmly together with a fork to seal.
9. Brush each triangle with oil. Alternatively, spray with oil. I use Ghee butter oil spray.
10. Pre-heat air fryer to 380F/190C
11. Lay the mushroom puff pastry triangles on the air fryer basket or tray in a single layer and give them some space to breeze and puff.
12. Sprinkle with everything bagel seasoning, if desired
13. Airfry mode at 380F for 3 minutes
14. Open air fryer, flip each puff pastry on the other side. Lightly spray or brush another side with oil and send them back to a hot air fryer for another 3 minutes or until the desired golden color of puff pastry.
15. Take out of air fryer and let cool for 5 minutes. Note: the mushroom filling is hot and needs to cool.
16. Serve with your favorite dipping sauce. I served mine with homemade Chipotle mayo.

Notes

2. You do not need to use parchment paper for this recipe. It is not messy and the puffs need to breeze.
