Air fryer pineapple is a quick, delicious, and productive way to enjoy this tropical fruit. Pineapple becomes even more irresistible when cooked in an air fryer. It creates a perfect combination of sweetness and crunch. Air frying gives the pineapple a slightly crispy exterior and gorgeous char while keeping its juicy interior.

Air-fried pineapple has become my latest culinary obsession. While grilling pineapple on the BBQ was a classic, I love how it takes less time to cook pineapple in the air fryer, and also preserves the natural sweetness of the fruit while adding a crispy texture that’s hard to resist. Plus, air frying doesn’t require any charcoal or propane, making it an eco-friendly option. My favorite way is to enjoy the warm air-fried pineapple with vanilla ice cream or top it on Air Fryer Breaded Chicken, Crispy Air-fried Pork Chops, or Juicy Air-fried Hamburger.

How to Make Pineapple in the Air Fryer

To start off this recipe, you will need a fresh pineapple. Choose one that is ripe but still firm. Peel the pineapple and remove the core before cutting it into rings or bite-sized pieces. Preheat your air fryer to 400 degrees Fahrenheit (200° C) while you prepare the pineapple. In a bowl, toss the pineapple pieces with a tablespoon of olive oil and a sprinkle of cinnamon for added flavor.

Once the air fryer is preheated, place the seasoned pineapple pieces in the basket in a single layer. Cook for 10-15 minutes, flipping each piece halfway through to ensure even cooking. The high heat of the air fryer will caramelize the sugars in the pineapple, creating a sweet and crispy exterior while keeping the inside juicy and tender. I’m using my Cuisinart Air Fryer oven for this recipe.

While the pineapple is cooking, you can prepare a simple dipping sauce to accompany it. Mix 1/2 cup of plain Greek yogurt with 1 teaspoon of honey and 1 teaspoon of lime juice for a tangy contrast to the sweetness of the pineapple. Once the pineapple is done cooking, serve it warm with a dollop of the yogurt sauce on top. This makes for a perfect dessert or snack that is both satisfying and guilt-free.

Air Frying Pineapple vs. Dehydrating

When it comes to pineapple, air frying tends to be the better option. Dehydrating can cause pineapple to lose some of its sweetness, making it less enjoyable to eat. In addition, dehydrating pineapple can make it chewy and difficult to bite into. May I recommend trying the Strawberries dried in the Air Fryer instead? They taste like candy but are natural and healthy.

Air frying, on the other hand, helps to preserve the natural sweetness of pineapple while also giving it a crispy texture that is perfect for snacking. As a result, if you’re looking for the best way to prepare pineapple, air frying is the way to go. It only takes 15 minutes to air fry the pineapple, vs. it takes hours to dehydrate it.

Can I Use Canned Pineapple?

Fresh pineapple is usually sweeter and more flavorful than canned pineapple. If you’re looking for the best possible air fryer pineapple experience, use fresh fruit.

However, canned pineapple can still be used in an air fryer. Just be sure to drain the pineapple well before cooking, and pat it dry with a paper towel since it is more likely to release liquid during cooking.

How to Serve Roasted Pineapple?

For a light and healthy meal, try air-fried pineapple with Air Fryer chicken breast and a green salad. Pair roasted pineapple with Air-Fried Pork Chops or Filet Mignon for a heartier complete meal.

And for a truly indulgent dish, top warm air-fried pineapple with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. This is always a hit with my kids!

Leftovers

Store the leftover roasted pineapple in an air-tight container in the fridge for up to three days or place it in the freezer-safe bag and freeze it. Pineapple can be kept in the freezer for up to four months. When you’re ready to eat it, you can place it directly from frozen and reheat it in the air fryer. Cook for 2-3 minutes per side to bring the outer crispiness and the inner warmth.

  1. Omg, never tried before, I am new to AF only had mine a couple of weeks now. Have just used it for really easy stuff.

  2. I read in my air fryer book to dehydrate pineapple it takes 6-8 hours but this recipe said 8-10 minutes and turn over for 5 more. How can they be so different?

          1. Add cinnamon right before you send it to air fryer. Add brown sugar for the last 3-4 minutes of cooking
