Air Fryer Salt and Vinegar Chicken Wings are a super tasty and easy-to-make snack that gives you the perfect mix of crispy, tangy, and savory flavors. Inspired by my Air Fryer Salt and Vinegar Chips, these wings are marinated in a zesty vinegar blend, then air-fried until golden and crunchy. The air fryer makes them extra crispy without needing a ton of oil, so they’re a lighter alternative to deep-fried wings. Whether you’re making them for game night, a party, or just a delicious meal at home, these wings pack a punch of bold flavor with every bite!

I know I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again—I love my air fryer! It’s unlocked so many delicious low-carb recipes my whole family enjoys. The first time I made Air Fryer Salt and Vinegar Chicken Wings, I wasn’t sure if the bold, tangy flavor would work—but one crispy, zesty bite proved me wrong! Now, they’re a go-to for game nights and dinners with friends, no mess required. If you love crispy wings, you’ve got to try another one of my favs – Garlic Parmesan Chicken Wings!
Ingredients:
- 2 pounds chicken wings (wingettes and drumettes)
- ½ cup distilled white vinegar
- ½ cup malt vinegar
- ½ cup water
- 1½ tablespoons kosher salt
- 2 teaspoons dry ranch mix
- 1 tablespoon sugar (or Monk Fruit 1:1 sugar substitute for a keto-friendly version)
- 1 teaspoon coarse ground pepper
- 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- ½ cup balsamic vinegar (optional, for added depth of flavor)
Instructions:
- Marinate the Wings: In a large resealable plastic bag or glass bowl, combine all ingredients. Add the chicken wings, ensuring they’re fully submerged in the marinade. Seal and refrigerate for 2-4 hours; longer marination enhances the flavor.

- Prepare for Cooking: After marinating, drain the wings and pat them dry with paper towels. Let them sit for about 15 minutes to reach room temperature.
- Air Fry the Wings: Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C). Lightly spray or brush the wings with olive oil. Arrange them in a single layer in the air fryer basket, ensuring they’re not overcrowded. Cook for 20 minutes, flipping the wings halfway through at the 10-minute mark, until they’re golden brown and crispy.
- Serve: Once done, remove the wings and serve warm with your preferred dipping sauce.
Serving Suggestions
These wings make a great appetizer or main dish. Pair them with sides like Air-fried onion rings, or Jalapeño Poppers. For a lighter option, consider Air-fried broccoli, green beans, coleslaw, or a fresh salad.
Pair Your Wings with Homemade Blue Cheese Dipping Sauce!
For the perfect finishing touch, try a creamy, tangy homemade blue cheese dipping sauce. Just mix:

- ½ cup sour cream
- ½ cup mayonnaise
- ¼ cup crumbled blue cheese
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice or vinegar
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
Storage Tips
For best results, enjoy the wings immediately while they’re hot and crispy. If you have leftovers, store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to four days. To reheat, place them back in the air fryer at 400°F (200°C) for 2-3 minutes until heated through and crispy.
Gluten-Free Tip: This recipe is naturally low-carb and keto-friendly. To make it gluten-free, substitute malt vinegar with apple cider vinegar. Feel free to adjust the marinade to suit your taste preferences, adding more red pepper flakes for heat or a touch of honey for sweetness.
Tips & Variations
- This chicken wings recipe is low in carbs and keto-friendly. However, it’s not gluten-free. To make a gluten-free salt and vinegar chicken wings recipe, replace the malt vinegar with apple cider vinegar.
- Salt and vinegar aside, there are multiple variations to enjoy your chicken wings seasoning. If you’re looking for a bit of heat, try some hot sauce or chilly powder. On the other hand, if you’re on the hunt for sweater flavors, try a barbecue sauce or honey. Finally, for a tangier taste, try some lemon juice.
- There are different ways to cook your salt and vinegar chicken wings. Don’t have an air fryer? No problem. Cook them in the oven at 375 degrees Fahrenheit for about 20 minutes, and immerse yourself in bold, flavorful bites.
