After stumbling upon the recipe for apple cinnamon detox water on the Dr. Oz show, I was a bit skeptical about its taste and effectiveness. However, after trying it out, I loved how refreshing and delicious it was. I tried the boil method as recommended by Dr. Oz. The sweet and tangy flavor of the apples combined with the warm spice of the cinnamon made this detox water feel like a treat rather than a chore. Not only did it taste delicious, but my house smelled amazing, and the drink left me feeling rejuvenated and energized.
Detoxing has been trending for a while, and I’ve tried plenty of methods, from juice cleanses to ACV-cayenne drinks. But the easiest and most effective one for me is detox water. In this post, I’ll share two ways to make Apple Cinnamon Detox Water—boiling and no boiling—so you can pick the method that works best for you. Cheers to staying hydrated in style!

The key ingredient in this apple cinnamon detox water recipe is, of course, apples. Apples are packed with antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals that help support the body’s natural detoxification process. They are also high in fiber, which aids in digestion and helps to eliminate toxins from the body. Cinnamon is another essential ingredient in this recipe. Cinnamon has anti-inflammatory properties and can help regulate blood sugar levels, making it an excellent addition to any detox drink.

Apple Cinnamon Water Boil Method Instructions
My favorite! Besides the health benefits, my house smells amazing! You will need two quarts of water, filtered or bottled (2 liters), 3 apples, 3-4 cinnamon sticks, and 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon.
Bring the water to a boil and then reduce to low heat to simmer. While the water is heating up, core and slice your apples as thin as possible. You can use an apple corer and slicer to make this process easier.

Once the water is simmering, add the sliced apples, cinnamon sticks, and ground cinnamon. Let it simmer for 25 to 35 minutes before letting it cool. Strain the water into a glass pitcher and enjoy fresh right away or refrigerate for up to 5 days.
Apple Cinnamon Water No Boil Method
If you prefer a no-boil method, simply follow the same ingredients and instructions but skip boiling the water. Just add the sliced apples, cinnamon sticks, and ground cinnamon to room temperature or cold water, let it sit for an hour or two, then refrigerate and enjoy.
Benefits of Apple Cinnamon Detox Drink
Not only does this apple cinnamon detox water taste delicious, but it also offers numerous health benefits. The combination of apples and cinnamon helps boost metabolism, improve digestion, reduce inflammation, and promote overall wellness. Drinking this detox water regularly can help flush out toxins from your body, improve your skin complexion, aid in weight loss efforts, and increase energy levels.
To me, this apple cinnamon water is a great alternative to sugary drinks or artificially flavored beverages that can do more harm than good. By staying hydrated with this refreshing drink infused with natural ingredients like apples and cinnamon, you’re not only quenching your thirst but also providing your body with essential nutrients that promote overall health and well-being.

Frequently Asked Questions
How long can I store apple cinnamon detox water?
You can store it in the refrigerator for up to 48 hours. After that, the flavors may start to fade, and the fruit can lose its freshness.
Should discard the apples and cinnamon after boiling them?
Yes. Remove the apples and cinnamon and simply drink the infused water. They lose some of their flavor after the first use and should be discarded after boiling.
Do apples lose their nutrients after boiling?
While some vitamins and minerals may be reduced slightly, much of the nutrients of apples and cinnamon remain intact and you can still enjoy all of the delicious flavors and health benefits of this tasty drink.
Which apples should I use for apple cinnamon detox water?
You can use any type of apple for this recipe! I recommend choosing organic apples. Whether it’s a Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, or Red Delicious, each organic apple will provide its unique flavor and nutritional benefits to the detox water. By choosing organic produce, you’ll be reducing your exposure to toxins and minimizing the impact on the environment.
Can I add other fruits to the recipe?
Absolutely! You can enhance the flavor with lemon slices, orange slices, or berries for variety.

When you boil things don’t they lose nutrients?
HI Edel, This is what they say.. I agree but the nutrients also go into the water making this drink really delicious. As an alternative, I also suggest the no-boil method in this post. Works just as good. Why not try both? you will like both methods… Let me know what you think
Quick question….can we leave the apples in and skip the straining?
Of course! If you want to have a clear liquid while sipping and nothing on the way… then you can strain… hope you enjoy
Hi, you said to strain apples and cinnamon, but the photos show its still inside the pitcher….. So what am I straining exactly?
HI Sherry, sure you can strain apples and cinnamon. Then put them in the garbage.
If you dont have cinnamon sticks, can you try the powder?
I drink this water almost every day.. Loving the results and increased metabolism! Thanks for posting both methods
I am looking forward to trying this apple drink starting tomorrow. It sounds DELICIOUS!!! I cannot wait. Thank You for sharing this with All.
Hi Dalaine.. Thank you! Please let me know what you think and how you liking it?
I tried it today and i pretty much like it! Though I’m curious if it has to be sweet? Cause mines wasnt but i liked drinking it hot. Though i didnt much liked it warm or cold. So I was wondering if its effective sweet or bitter? Btw thank you for the post! Loved the drink so far!
Loving it !! I have my staff trying this too . It’s our 1st day so far so good and actually i’m not hungry :0
This is awesome Tammy… I love this detox water too… Keep rocking!
I haven’t tried it yet must go to the store for the cinnamon sticks. What do you do with the apples and cinnamon sticks after you strain it.
I would eat the apples, what did you do??
HI Joan, If i use the boil method, I simmer the apples and cinnamon in the water for 15 minutes. Then the water cools down for at least an hour. I found that apples gave all their nutrients, juices and sugar directly into a water and practically lost their sweetness and texture. Plus I slice them SUPER THIN . They kinda remind me of applecauce texture with no sugar. I tried to eat a few but they are tasteless so I discard them into my compost pile. What about you? Have you tried it yet?
This is very tasty and hydrating. It is a nice to grab some from the re-fridge to take outdoors when I am gardening in the heat. I did the simmer method. It had plenty of flavor for me with 1 gallon water, 3 apples, and 4 cinnamon sticks. I sliced the apples thinly on a mandolin. I smashed the cinnamon sticks a little with a hammer, to get more surface area contact with the water, and increase the flavor. Hint: Wrap the cinnamon sticks in a cloth before smashing….or the pieces fly all over. Next time, I might try adding some dried orange peel. After it cools a little, I might add some green tea leaves to steep for the additional health benefit. I plan to give some of the finished product to a few of my friends. I’ll put it in individual bottles and alongside I’ll include the apples, cinnamon sticks, and recipe, so they can make their own. Thank you for sharing your post and recipe.
Hi Sue, thanks for your comment and for sharing your wonderful ideas how to add additional benefits. I love your idea that you plan to give some of the finished product to a few of your friends. in individual bottles. This is very crafty of you. I would love to see your creation. If you have a photo please feel free to share it to my Facebook page (The Big Apple Mama)
How long will the detox water last once it’s put in the refrigerator? It sounds like it will taste great. I’m going to try it and see how I feel after drinking it. Hopefully it will also help me lose some weight. Thanks for sharing.
Goodday did this water help u lose weight
Of course!… Drink 2L a day.. mix in with this delicious detox water. I saw my weight loss results when I had a portion control with physical activity
Hi Debi, It does taste great… Since you are discarding the apples, this water will last good in your fridge for 7 days. It maybe longer, but I already have it gone here in 1-3 days.?
Hope you enjoy
Excellent recipe – thank you for sharing!! I was wondering have you tries adding apple cider vinegar to it for an extra punch in the morning or would that really destroy the taste?
I was wondering the same thing. I want to add a little apple cider vinegar and a bit of honey.
I grow organic mountain apples and look forward to trying this. Always looking for new ways to use them.
Hi Debbie. Organic Mountain Apples sounds so fresh and delicious. This recipe is my favorite. I make one large batch once a week and enjoy each morning. I love it and I can feel it is working good. Hope you enjoy too..
Looking forward to trying this new brew !
sounds great tasting!
Thanks for sharing
You’re welcome Jacqueline. It is simple and tastes good. Enjoy!
This sounds pretty good, especially for a detox water! I would like to make some of this to have in the fridge this summer. Can’t beat a refreshing drink that is healthy too.
I was so excited to go grocery shopping! I was like a kid in a candy store. I bought a CASE of water and the BIGGEST container of cinnamon sticks I could find………..should I reuse the sticks out discard them?
Hi Skittles, what could be more exciting than shopping for 2-ingredient healthy detox water, right? Me the same, was very excited and got the large container of cinnamon sticks. Once you prepare your detox water and pour it into the jar(s) you will see that cinnamon sticks will open up and become soggy. Discard them and use the new ones with your new fresh batch. You only need 3-4 sticks and you can add a small pinch on cinnamon powder if you like. Good luck!
can i use the strained apple slices for other recipes?
Usually most of the sugar and juice is in the water and out of apples ?. I suppose you could use if you find the good recipe
thankyou for reply,,,,I have friends that are raising pigs ,,I give boiled apples to them,,,,,,,I really am ejoying appple cinnamon water,, Do you keep more than three days? ,,,,if there is still some left or should it be discared????
Hello! When the detox water is refrigerated, how long does it last? It sounds like it will be delicious. I’m going to give it a go and see how I feel afterward. Hopefully, it will also aid in my weight loss. Thank you for providing this information.
I started drinking this water today. I find it very tasty and I am feeling better and not craving my pop.
You can add honey to the mix to help boost the metabolism as well.
Add it to the cool water after it cools though.
Great suggestion Debbie, thanks! I bet it tastes even better… I’m glad you’re enjoying it.
I am doing the Keto diet and would like to know the nutrition value please.
This looks yummy! Can I use cinnamon instead of sticks? If so, how much would I use? TY!
Thank you! Cinnamon sticks, Once added to the water, they should add flavor and aroma. Yes, absolutely you can substitute for cinnamon powder – I read that 1 -3″ stick equals 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon). So you may need to add 3-4 teaspoons. I would start with 2-3 and then you taste. If the liquid tastes good to you, you can add more… Let me know you made the apple cider and if cinnamon powder was ok, which i’m sure it will be… Good luck… I love adding cinnamon powder to various of my meals…
