1. Eat your vitamins and drink plenty of fluids. My first suggestion was to take some Echinacea and zinc tablets and begin drinking plenty of fluids.

2. Lemon Ginger Tea.  Ginger tea is an Asian herbal beverage that is made from ginger root. It has a long history as a herbal medicine in Asia and the Middle East. Ginger tea is usually used to prevent colds and to aid in digestion, upset stomach, diarrhea, and nausea.

To help with the sore throat pain I put a recipe I read about to work. You can drink it couple of times a day if you’re fighting cold and flu season. I also drink it couple of times a week and it works good for prevention.

Here are the ingredients and instruction:

  • Heat 2-cups of water
  • Grate 2 teaspoons of fresh ginger root
  • Add ginger to water and simmer for 10-15 minutes
  • Pour water through strainer into large mug or bowl
  • Add two tablespoons of raw organic honey
  • Squeeze half a lemon into the cup
  • Sip slowly while hot.

Not only is this concoction good for your sore throat it will also help loosening up phlegm in your nasal passages and lungs.  Just a word of warning this drink does have a kick.

3. Chicken Broth with Garlic and Noodles Soup. Another home remedy I have tried is good for attacking the bugs that are wreaking havoc on your immune system. This home remedy involves the use of fresh garlic so not only with it keep the bugs away it will also keep your family and friends at a safe distance.  Basically you start heating up some chicken broth with noodles and season to your taste. For the last two minutes of simmering add some freshly minced garlic to the soup.

I hope you enjoy this Lemon Ginger tea recipe.

Get plenty of rest and stay healthy!

  1. As soon as I feel the tickle or scratch in my throat, I start sucking zinc lozenges every 2-3 hours for the first day while I’m awake. Many times that’s enough to abate the cold. If it does progress further, I make a pot of chicken soup and keep drinking it all day. I also take umcka. It shortens the cold considerably.
