Have you ever tried celery root? The piece that is in the ground when you cut the top bunch of celery. When I first tried it, I was surprised by its nutty flavor and crisp texture. I had never heard of celery root before until my friend served the celery root dip to me as an appetizer. She told me that in her home country Turkey, they eat the celery root all the time and the green part of the celery is not commonly consumed. It was fascinating to learn about this cultural difference and try something new that I had never considered before. If you’re looking for a unique and tasty ingredient to spice up your next salad or dip, give celery root a try!
If you’re like me, and crave the creamy and decadent salads that are loaded with texture and flavor, may I recommend some of my all-time favorites? Broccoli salad, which is filled with crunchy bacon and sunflower seeds, Cucumber Radish Salad, which has a zesty kick with lemon and dill, and Classic Tuna Salad, which I love for a protein-packed lunch, making Air Fryer Tuna Melt.
As a lover of all things creamy and flavorful, I couldn’t wait to try out the celery root salad that had caught my eye. I couldn’t get enough of this delectable salad and knew that it would become a new favorite in my recipe collection.

In Czech republic we also use mainly celery root for cooking, it is great base for veggie creamy sauces and it gives amazing taste to broths.
Love celery salad/spread and I’m doing it like once a month. Sometimes I add grated cheese (Gouda, Cheddar) or carrot, great with one or two cloves of finely chopped garlic.
Do you actually mean the celery plant root – the piece that is in the ground when you cut the top bunch of celery off the plant??
Thanks for your help
Kathie
HI Kathie. Yes, celery root is the piece that is in the ground.
I know of this vegetable as celeriac, a root vegetable, celery stalks you eat from above the ground, there is no root to eat. Hope this helps.
