If you're looking for a snack that combines the perfect blend of heat, crunch, and creamy goodness, then Air Fryer Jalapeño Poppers are your go-to treat. Whether you're hosting a game night or craving a spicy snack, these stuffed jalapeno peppers are a delicious and healthier alternative to the deep-fried version.
8Jalapeno peppersmedium to large size (3-4 inches long)
3/4cupcooked and crumbled baconAbout 7- slices of cooked bacon
8ozcream cheeseroom temperature
3/4cupshredded cheese of choiceI used Mexican blend. Plus more shredded cheese to sprinkle on top.
1teaspoongarlic powder
1teaspoononion powder
salt + pepperto taste
cooking sprayIt is optional, but I spray the air fryer basket before adding the jalapenos.
Instructions
Prepare the Jalapeños: Wash and dry jalapeno peppers. Cut each jalapeño in half lengthwise and remove the seeds and membranes. Be sure to wear gloves to avoid any irritation from the spicy oils. Remove the seeds and membranes, especially if you're sensitive to heat. While some spiciness is welcome, removing these elements helps control the overall heat level, making the poppers enjoyable for everyone.
Make the Filling: In a bowl, combine the cream cheese, cheddar cheese, green onions, garlic powder, onion powder and salt, and pepper to taste. Mix until well combined.
Stuff the Jalapeños: Fill each jalapeño half with the cheese mixture, pressing gently to ensure it's packed.
Air Fry: Preheat your air fryer to 375°F. Arrange the jalapeño poppers in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Cook for 4-5 minutes. Then open the air fryer basket and top each pepper with more shredded cheese. Cook for an additional 4-5 minutes or until the tops are golden and crispy.
Serve: Allow the poppers to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy them on their own or with your favorite dipping sauce. I chose homemade Blue Cheese Sauce to balance off the heat from spicy Jalapenos.
Notes
I recommend handling peppers with gloves or else your hands and fingers may feel a burning sensation. They also call it "Jalapeno Hands".You can play with stuffing as you like. I also suggest adding crumbled sausage instead of bacon, if you like. Delicious! I tried many varieties of stuffing. I once added some crushed pecans (or walnuts) with dried cranberries. This adds crunch and a bit of sweet flavor to spicy and savory Jalapeno poppers. Triple flavor explosion in your mouth!
