1/2teaspoonthyme
1/2teaspoonrosemary
Optional toppings:
shredded cheese, fresh herbs (like parsley or chives), sour cream, or bacon bits.
Instructions
Prep Your Potatoes. Give those potatoes a good scrub under water and pat them dry.Place a potato on a cutting board and lay a chopstick or skewer on either side of it. Carefully cut thin, even slices into the potato, stopping just before you cut all the way through (the chopsticks keep you from slicing too far). Repeat with the other potatoes.
Place the potatoes in the microwave, and cook on high for 5-7 minutes until fork tender.
Season. Mix your olive oil (or melted butter) with the garlic powder, salt, and pepper, rosemary and thyme. Remove potatoes from the microwave. Using your brush, coat the potatoes generously, making sure to get the mixture into all the slices.
Air Fry. Place your potatoes in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Set the temperature to 375°F and cook for 12-14 minutes, depending on the size of your potatoes.About halfway through (around 6 minutes), pull out the basket and give the potatoes another brush with oil or butter. This keeps them crispy and extra golden.
Serve. Hasselback potatoes go with everything. Serve them alongside steak, chicken, or fish, or keep it casual with a side salad. Pile on toppings and make them the main course.
Notes
How do i cut my Hasselback potatoes if i don't have chop sticks? Can I just cut them without anything put under it?If you don’t have chopsticks, you’ve still got options to make sure you don’t slice all the way through your potato! You can use wooden spoons, butter knives, or even the edge of a cutting board as a guide. But if you’re wondering, “Can I just wing it without anything underneath?”—you totally can, but it’s a little risky. Without something to stop your knife, it’s super easy to accidentally cut all the way through, and then your Hasselback potato turns into regular slices. If that happens, no worries—it’ll still taste awesome! Just go slow and try not to cut too deep if you’re going freestyle.Tips
Consistent slices: Try to keep your cuts even so the potatoes cook evenly.
Check your spuds: If they’re thicker, they might need a couple of extra minutes.
Topping fun: Sprinkle some Parmesan cheese in the last 5 minutes for a cheesy upgrade. Or, go wild with bacon bits and a dollop of sour cream after cooking!
